Rebecca Johnson

Rebecca Johnson

Hello, my name is Rebecca. I received my Personal Trainer Certification in January 2024. I am from Hastings, born and raised. A graduate of Adams Central, I was involved in many activities and sports in high school including tennis, volleyball, track (100 and 200 meter sprints, long jump, and shot put), cheerleading, and band. I currently work in the healthcare field as a Medical Laboratory Technician.

I was overweight most of my life. Over the years I had attempted to lose weight, but would always end up gaining it back, and then some. On February 28, 2022 I decided to try again. This time it was different. I was at a point in my life where I was ready to make a change for the better. I’ve worked hard to lose 150 lbs in 1 year and 8 months! Now, I find joy in using my own experience and qualifications to help people just like you. I can relate to how you feel. I don’t have to try to put myself in your shoes… I have walked in your shoes and I can now help you turn your life around, too.

Helping people move better, gain strength, increase endurance and improve mobility is another passion of mine. I know from personal experience what it’s like to have mobility challenges. My focus is guiding my clients to realize they can improve their function and fitness to make their activities of daily living easier.

I believe that anything is possible when you set goals, make a plan, and do the work! The mental game of life can be hardest. Trying your best and not giving up, is what matters the most. Believe in yourself and go after what you want! I truly love what I do in helping others achieve greatness within themselves. If you’re ready to take the next step toward health and wellness, I would love to be able to help you on your journey to your new life.

Trainerize is a coaching app utilized by the Hastings Family YMCA's Personal Trainers. With fitness, nutrition, and habit-coaching features, plus in-app messaging, progress tracking, and more — it's everything you need to be motivated and inspired!

Trainerize will be used for online personal training but can also be added on to your in-person personal training plan. Ask your Personal Trainer about adding this feature.

  1. Goal Achievement
A personal trainer helps you define your fitness goals. She/he takes into account your current fitness level and discusses what you want to achieve through your workouts.
  2. Personalized Workout
Personal trainers create a specific workout plan just for you based on what you want to achieve. The personalized plan typically gives you better results than a general workout plan.
  3. Instruction
A personal trainer teaches you the proper way to perform each exercise movement in your routine. She/he often demonstrates the movement and watches you perform it so she/he can correct any issues with your posture or technique. This instruction helps eliminate gym injuries which often occur due to completing exercises with improper form.
  4. Motivation
Motivation is often difficult to maintain when you exercise on your own. Regular sessions with a personal trainer enhance your motivation to continue with a workout regimen.
  5. Accountability
Another common problem is lack of commitment to a regular exercise program. When you exercise on your own, it is easier to skip a session here and there or fall off the wagon completely since there's no one to hold you accountable for your actions.
  6. Variety
An experienced trainer teaches you a variety of exercise methods, which can keep you from getting bored. Also, if a specific exercise does not work for you, the trainer can change it to one that suits you better and provides the same physical benefits.
  7. Efficiency
A professional personal trainer is able to make the most of your workout time, which increases the efficiency of your exercise program. This is especially beneficial when you have a limited amount of time to exercise.
