The Hastings YMCA offers transportation for Elementary school students to the 18th St. YMCA Afterschool Program. Volunteer to chaperone the bus or utilize/obtain your CDL to drive the bus.
The Y offers summer and after school childcare for children ages 5 to 12, which includes scheduled activities for the participants. We are always looking for volunteers to help in our Child Care Department and provide a fun and safe environment with enriching activities for the youth in our community!
The Hastings YMCA offers our members free nursery care for children ages 6 weeks to 8 yrs old. Volunteer to rock babies, play with toddlers and help make sure all children are safe while mom or dad has a great workout at the Y.
The Hastings YMCA organizes several races throughout the year including a triathlon and 5K Turkey Trot. Volunteer to be on the race route monitoring traffic safety and encouraging participants. Volunteers are also need at registration tables, to time-keep, and pull finishing bib numbers.
Monthly Middle School dances are scheduled from 8:00pm-10:30pm one Saturday per month. Volunteer to chaperone to help ensure that all teenagers are having a socially great time with adequate supervision.
Tuesday and Thursday mornings the 16th St. Hastings YMCA offers a place for seniors to come in and socialize by playing cards. Volunteer to play cards or welcome the seniors, offering snacks and a smile. Monthly social events/Dances are planned for seniors. Volunteer to help pour beverages and lead organized theme based activities.
The YMCA offers youth Cooking Club for kids after school and during the summer. Volunteer to help kids learn cooking skills and create healthy habits through new recipes.
Kids get to spend a week during the summer outdoors learning archery, fishing, kayaking, crafts, hiking, and so much more! Volunteer to help with activities or lead a group. This camp takes place in every summer in July.
Kids get the opportunity to sample 10 different sports during our Sports Sampler Camp! Volunteer to lead a group or teach a sport during the camp. The Sports Sampler Camp takes place every year in July.
Volunteer at our Annual Turkey Trot 5K that takes place in November. Volunteer responsibilities could include helping check participants in, keeping time, and directing traffic for the runners.
Having volunteer coaches for our youth sports leagues is very important to help our kids develop skills and be encouraged by their coach! You don't have to be a professional to coach a youth sports team! Responsibilities could include communicating with parents, leading practices, helping kids develop skills, and encouraging them!
