Join us for our YMCA/HC Volleyball Clinic this Winter! The 4 week/4 session clinic will be run and taught by the Hastings College volleyball team. The clinic will teach kids the game and work on the fundamentals, while interacting with volleyball players and coaches. All levels of skill are welcome and all will get something out of the clinic. After the final session every participant will receive a free volleyball!
The YMCA youth soccer clinic, partnered with the Hastings College Men's and Women's soccer teams, is programmed to build skills, introduce the inexperienced to the sport, and develop current skills for the experienced. The clinic will be taught by HC coaches and players, giving participants hands-on experience and instruction. This program is intended to get participants "warmed-up" for the upcoming youth soccer league in the Spring. Maximum of each session is 40. The kids will be divided by age at the clinic.
All participants will receive a FREE soccer ball!
The Hastings YMCA offers Baseball Basics as a program that will introduce youth to the game of baseball with skill development and games. Youth will be taught the fundamentals of baseball that will get them ready for the upcoming Hastings Baseball season. Parents are encouraged to attend and learn the fundamentals of how to practice with their kids at home. Baseball Basics is a hands-on, learning experience for youth in a low-pressure environment. The program is run and instructed by the Hastings Athletics and Hastings Legion Baseball players; youth will be taught from some of the best in Hastings.
Partnered with the Hastings College Cheer & Dance team, participants will learn the fundamentals of cheerleading and basic cheer tactics. This fun and interactive program will include one-hour practices on Monday nights and conclude with a performance open to family members on the final clinic session on April 13th. This will take place at Hastings College in the cheer and dance studio in Kiewit. All participants will be given FREE pom-poms!
Try something new and different, and who knows, this may be right up your child's/kids' ally!
BlastBall, the fun alternative to traditional T-Ball, uses an exclusive "Honking" base to entertain younger players, adding excitement to the game. The rules are simple and call for a faster-paced game in which all of the players are involved and "on their toes" at all times. Not only does BlastBall keep the kids' attention and focus, it also helps develop their hitting, catching, fielding, throwing, and base running skills. BlastBall is a great introduction for kids 3-5 years old, as skill development will be stressed through games and drills. The first half of the session will focus on a specific fundamental, while the second half will consist of a BlastBall game where players will hit off a tee and run to first base to "honk" it. Fielders will then try and field the ball and yell "BLAST!" before the runner honks the base. The game is played with a foam bat and ball, with no additional equipment needed.
Participants receive a free t-shirt as part of registration.

Looking for something fun to do this summer? Wanting to improve skills, learn new drills, and be with friends? Thinking about a sports camp but can't decide on a sport? If this describes you and your child/kids, then this camp is for you! In Summer 2020, the Hastings YMCA will be hosting a sports sampler camp that will all be taught by Hastings College coaches and athletes.
This sports sampler is intended to give participants the opportunity to get a taste of every sport while also making it fun for a sport specific athlete. Participants will be grouped by grades and will complete a circuit, spending time at each sport. Statistics have shown that kids who play multiple sports tend to do better in school, play sports longer through their youth years, and have more fun without getting burnt out from one or two sports. So what are you waiting for? Sign up today!
For 4 weeks and for about an hour on Sunday afternoons, Brendan Lipovsky (former Hastings College basketball player) and current Hastings College athletes will lead an interactive and hands-on clinic to introduce basketball to the inexperienced and help develop skills to the experienced. This clinic will teach the fundamentals of basketball to beginners (how to dribble, shoot, pass, etc.) and build current skills to the experienced (dribbling without using eyes, proper shooting form, technique, etc.). All levels of skill are encouraged to attend! Parent participation is requested.
All participants will be given a FREE basketball after the final session!
The YMCA Tennis Clinic is for all ages, boys and girls, and is about fitting tennis to kids based on ability. Any child can start playing tennis almost immediately, even having never picked up a racquet. For the K-2nd, kids will enjoy basic activities designed to facilitate hand-eye coordination, court positioning, and the basics of tennis. For 3rd-5th, the class will be taught the fundamentals of tennis through small-sided skill games and hands-on learning with a coach. Proper technique will be emphasized through fun games to stay focused and get hands-on experience.
Tennis is for everyone! Try something new and exciting! All participants will either receive a free racquet or a clinic t-shirt!
The Middle School Tennis Development Program is to teach the game of tennis and build skills. Whether kids have never picked up a racquet before and are interested in tennis, or have played it before, this program is instructed and coached by the Hastings High School Tennis Coach, Roger Sunderman, and is designed to provide coaching with interactive games. The first half of each session will consist of hands-on instruction/learning and skill development while the second half will include interactive games and competitive play. A racquet will be provided if participants are in need of one. All participants will receive a free program t shirt! This is a development program designed to teach the game and build skills.
Don't miss out on the opportunity to be taught by experienced coaches who have played or coached at a highly competitive level! We want your child to be introduced to sports by focusing on fun and interactive games that are played to gain the interest of each participant. We also want to touch on the rules and equipment that is involved to give children a better feel for the game.
Our youth sports camps and clinics are a great opportunity to make friends, learn new skills and knowledge, stay active, and have fun!
