Member Story: Deon Lyle

Deon Lyle is a professional basketball player for the Chicago Ballers of the Junior Basketball Association, which was founded by LaVar Ball. Deon is originally from Hastings and grew up attending the Hastings YMCA regularly! He recently shared with us some of his favorite memories at the YMCA while growing up.

“I remember going to the YMCA every day after school until they closed at 8 or 10. The YMCA was a big part of me growing up in a team and sports environment. I met all my best friends playing around at the YMCA facilities. From playing Y-ball to playing jump-shot and basketball on the little courts I could always find something to do at the YMCA. It helped me with my team building skills and showed me a life where you can enjoy being active all day and meeting new friends. Now and forever I’m a YMCA member.”
