Volunteer

AT THE YMCA, YOUR TIME AND TALENT GO A LONG WAY.

Volunteerism is central to the founding and legacy of the YMCA.

The YMCA was founded on a simple but powerful idea: by bringing neighbors together to advance the common good, we can improve lives and strengthen communities. That idea came to life 170 years ago when George Williams convened 11 volunteers to improve the lives of young men struggling to overcome the challenges of life in industrialized London. Today, in the United States alone, the Y has nearly 600,000 volunteers who, in partnership with full- and part-time staff, engage 22 million youth and adults each year through YMCA centers and programs that help them to reach their full potential.

With our Volunteer program:

  • We transform the way people see themselves in their communities and in the world.
  • More people understand who we are and what we do as an organization.
  • The Y is differentiated from health and wellness facilities.
  • Our Movement grows stronger as more people choose to join us as members, volunteers, and staff.
  • Program innovation and agile responsiveness to our changing communities become our norm.
  • We amplify our impact in communities and deepen our commitment to the nation.

The Hastings Family YMCA has multiple opportunities for community members to volunteer within our organization; in fact, it is vital for our successful YMCA. Contribute as little as an hour of your time up to every day of the week. The Y aims to tailor-fit the volunteer experience to match talents and interests.

Contact Jenna Lindblad, Membership Director, to volunteer and make a difference, impacting lives of the young and old in our community.
