YMCA Offers Spanish Fitness Class
The Hastings Family YMCA announces the addition of the organization’s first Spanish-instructed fitness class beginning in August.
The fitness class Zumba, a dance-aerobics class, already currently offered by the Hastings Family YMCA, will be offered beginning Friday, August 1 as a Spanish-instructed class. The class will meet every Friday at 5:45 p.m. at the 18th Street YMCA and will be instructed by Nery Shafer.The class is free to Hastings YMCA members and for non-members there is a charge of $ 5 per class or a fitness punch card may be purchased for $ 80 which includes 20 classes.
"This is just the beginning of the scope of Spanish-instructed classes we plan to offer to our members and the community," said Anne Hessler, YMCA Health and Wellness Director. "Our goal is to integrate more classes, programs and services in an attempt to make ourselves more accessible to everyone in the community."
This year, the Hastings Family YMCA also added a membership application and rate sheet in Spanish.
Zumba also meets Monday and Thursday at 9 a.m. at the 18th Street YMCA under English instruction. From July 25 through August 31 the Hastings YMCA will waive its facility fee and give two weeks free to anyone purchasing a membership.
