Hastings YMCA Receives PepsiCo Grant
The Hastings Family YMCA has received a grant from PepsiCo and its Smart Spot program, a health and wellness initiative, to help more people achieve healthier lifestyles within the community served by the YMCA.
The Hastings Family YMCA has been awarded a grant for $ 2,500 in support of health and wellness programs related to Activate America, a long-term initiative designed to strengthen and promote the YMCA’s abilities to help more Americans live healthier lives. Specifically, the Hastings Family YMCA will use the grant money toward the KBAM (Kids—Body and Mind) Program. The YMCA has developed this dynamic program seeking to engage youth with innovative and varied activities in a safe, supportive environment. Through this program, the YMCA will provide as many tools as possible to prevent obesity and poor health habits of our youth. The KBAM Program targets youth ages eight to 15.
"We are very grateful for PepsiCo’s support of our health and wellness initiatives," said Michael Krings, Hastings Family YMCA CEO. "Through our long-term alliance, we are working together to reverse the country’s obesity epidemic that threatens the long-term health of our communities."
The Hastings Family YMCA proudly serves more than 7,000 members including infants, toddlers, students, singles, parents and seniors. The YMCA’s mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
