Splash Week at the YMCA
The Hastings Family YMCA will be holding its annual Splash Week May 27 through May 30, 2008. For more than 30 years, the Hastings Family YMCA has offered this event to children and families in our community free of charge.
Splash Week is an introduction and orientation to swimming and water safety skills, primarily for children and families. Each year, thousands of people drown. With local emphasis on water safety, it is our goal to end needless drowning and water-related accidents.
Other benefits families receive from YMCA Splash Week include overcoming a fear of water and learning swimming skills as well as developing a sense of pride and inner strength. YMCA Splash Week, like all YMCA programs, has the goal of helping individuals reach their fullest potential in spirit, mind and body.
Some topics covered in Splash Week are: pool safety, beach safety, boating safety, backyard pool safety, basic swimming skills and parent education.
Registrations for Splash Week are currently being accepted. Splash week is open to youth ages five to 12. Register at either Hastings Family YMCA location—1220 West 18th Street or 1430 West 16th Street. Splash week is a free, community event.
